Tell us about yourself! What’s your background and what do you do?

I moved to Colorado 10 years ago and was a bartender at ChoLon Bistro for a long time. Now I am self-employed with 5280Holistics.

How did you learn your craft? Tell us about your first finished product.

Being in sports and living an active lifestyle my whole life, I was very familiar with natural recovery and using plant medicine. After long nights of bartending, I would use homemade balms on my back and feet. A good friend of mine was breaking into the CBD industry and explained how CBD products would be a hit. I realized I could infuse CBD into these balms and tinctures I was already making. In 2018 I figured out what I needed to start a business in this new industry and I started making CBD recovery products in a commissary. I would sell them to people in the bar industry and the gyms, families and friends. Since then, we have scaled and have been working with local manufacturers to produce our upgraded products, so they’re sterile and have long shelf stability.

Where does the name of your business come from?

My company was founded in Denver and is a proud Colorado company. 5280 is a prominent name in Denver since it’s the Mile High City. 5280 ft elevation.

How long does it take to make your product and what’s involved in the process?

When we were making products, we would have to do simple infusions with CBD isolate and carrier oils. We made bath bombs, CBD oils, balms, lip balms, and tattoo salves.

Where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration came from wanting to help people recover from whatever activities they are doing. Recovery even comes down to sleep. My sleep was terrible until I started using CBD. When we hear people are getting great sleep, living in less pain, less stress, and all around feeling happy and healthy, that is my inspiration.

What three words would you use to describe your product/service?

CBD for Athletes

What’s your favorite product that you’ve created?

My favorite product is our CBD+MCT Oils. I use it daily to control pain and inflammation in my body. It helps me focus on my work and keep my stress down. We use the highest quality CBD isolate and infuse it with organic MCT oil. MCT Oil is healthier coconut oil and is easily processed in the body.

What question do you get asked the most at pop-up markets?

“What do you have for sleep?” I’ll happily suggest our 2:1 CBD/CBN Sleep Support Gummies. CBD is great for relaxing and falling asleep but I have trouble staying asleep. The CBN is what is helping me and others to stay asleep longer!

What is your favorite Gum Pop Presents event?

I like TheBigWonderful.

What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know (or wouldn’t guess)?

I started this company from scratch with no investors and no guidance in one of the most restricted industries. It’s been a struggle but we have grown organically from day one.

What is your favorite thing about being a creator in Colorado?

We’re such an active state, so I would say getting to help the people that live a healthy and active lifestyle.

What's your go-to hang out spot in Denver?

I like hanging out around Sloan’s Lake area.

If you had one extra hour of free time every day, how would you use it?

Enjoying it with my fiancée and doggos.

What’s next? We are currently working on a big sponsorship with a local fitness company. We are also focusing on getting our products into more gyms, spas, chiropractic offices etc.
